Design Build Radio Frequency Interference

$1M – $5M | Eglin AFB, FL | Eglin AFB

The overhead distribution system near the active runway and air traffic control tower at Eglin AFB was proposed to be the root cause of aircraft radio frequency interference. Upon investigation it was determined that the aging overhead distribution system was producing minor arcs resulting in frequencies that corresponded and interfered with the frequencies being utilized by commercial airlines and military operations at Eglin AFB.

As a solution, this project entailed the removal of all overhead distribution in this area and the installation of new primary risers, primary switches, primary junction cabinets, primary conductor and associated re-work for the conversion of overhead to underground as well as re-work of the existing service entrances to the affected facilities.
