Design Build Radar XMTR Power Upgrade

$5M – $10M | Eglin AFB, FL | BAE Systems

Weapons System ANFPS-85 at Site C-6 represents the world’s most powerful phased array radar and a highly critical instrument in our national defense. This project served to augment the existing electrical infrastructure backbone for future transmitter expansion into state of the art transmitter technology.

UNIQUE ATTRIBUTES: Weapons System ANFPS-85 requires meticulous cut-over planning and mission coordination for new equipment installations and as such, PPS has always worked tirelessly to find alternatives in our approach to
mitigate any affects to the radar’s mission. In this instance, PPS maximized use of switching orders and schemes to complete all cut-overs with minimal impact to mission operations. The project required the installation of two new primary circuits from existing primary substations along with two VTC 3MVA transformers, 4000A double-ended Switchgear, four Automatic transfer Switches, shunt-trip EPOs, communication network and final integration nto the existing Metasys control & monitoring system.
