Design Build Airfield Lighting Vault (Hurlburt)
$1M – $5M | Hulburt Field, FL | 1 SOCONS
The existing Airfield lighting vault was saturated with personnel hazards and reliability issues due to an aging airfield lighting and control system. The existing facility was constructed of hollow core CMU block and inadequate to face the imminent challenges of each passing hurricane season. This project provided a new ADB SGRS airfield regulator system and controls along with updated Air Traffic Control control & monitoring system.
UNIQUE ATTRIBUTES: Due to funding restrictions, the existing facility was to remain in place and be reused for the installation of all new airfield lighting equipment while structural, mechanical, life safety, and complete electrical upgrades were completed. PPS was able to complete all facility upgrades while maintaining a completely functional airfield lighting and control system for 1 SOCONS. At the conclusion of the project, the end user received an airfield lighting system at the cutting edge of technology at that time along with a structurally sound facility that had been reinforced to bring all structural elements in compliance with UFC and national building codes.
