Tribal Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Program

The U.S. Department of Energy is offering up to $225 million in grants for Tribal governments and Alaska Native entities through the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates program. Eligible households can score up to $14,000 for energy efficiency upgrades and electrification—bringing clean energy home and cutting costs! Apply by May 31st, 2025!

Environmental Review Improvement Fund (ERIF) Tribal Assistance Program (TAP)

The Permitting Council Executive Director acknowledges the capacity challenges Tribes face in participating in Federal environmental reviews and authorizations for infrastructure projects, including those under FAST-41. Providing funding to support Tribal governments in capacity building for processes like NEPA reviews and Section 106 consultations of the National Historic Preservation Act will enhance the timeliness and efficiency of these reviews for FAST-41 projects. Funding can also be used for several resources including additional staff for Tribal Historic Preservation Offices or natural resource offices, upgrading office equipment, training, and more. Community Changes Grant Program

The EPA’s new Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants program has issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for approximately $2 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). These funds will support projects that benefit disadvantaged communities by reducing pollution, increasing climate resilience, and building capacity to address environmental and climate justice challenges. The place-based investments will focus on community-driven initiatives, shaped by community and stakeholder input. Apply by November 11th, 2024!

Attendees will present and provide training on a variety of topics, including resources for Tribal energy projects, achieving self-sufficiency through energy planning, and large-scale Tribal energy initiatives. The event will also cover developments in renewable energy, Tribal/private partnership opportunities, case studies, and available funding sources for energy projects.
