A few weeks ago, our VP of Renewables, Robin Hurst, attended the Tesla MegaPack Installer Day event at Gigafactory Texas in Austin.
The event comprised a group of constructors and developers who attended to hear from Tesla experts about everything from installation to commissioning for the Tesla Mega Pack 2 XL product. While the Gigafactory in Austin produces the Cybertruck and Tesla Model Y, adjacent to the factory is an operational BESS, made up of the Tesla MegaPack 2 XL technology.
The day began with a safety briefing and breakfast. Brad Harbidge, Tesla’s Director of Project Deployment, then addressed the guests. His message made clear that Tesla is committed to providing functional, safe, and easy-to-deploy solutions in the BESS market.
The next few hours were spent freely moving between technical stations. Tesla made numerous technology experts from their team available to provide overviews on every aspect of the new Megapack 2 XL product, which offers many advantages that should reduce the BOP installation costs.
Tesla was an amazing host as well. All the experts were eager to interact and answer any and all questions. As a bonus, they took all of their guests on a private tour of the Gigafactory in the afternoon. It is a 12 million-square-foot facility with state-of-the-art technology that produces the Tesla Model Y and Tesla Cybertruck. The day concluded with a social hour at a local bar and grill with the Tesla team.
Robin shared that it was a wonderful event and an incredible opportunity to network with peers in the industry while also being able to interact directly with a major technology provider!
A huge thanks to Tesla for opening your doors to give us a behind-the-scenes look and for your sincere engagement with industry to progress the clean energy transition.
